Pot plants seized at Lenoir-Greene line
Son of farm owner found plants while making deer tracks

A young man searching for a good hunting spot Tuesday
found a lot more than he was looking for.
Greene County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday discovered a field with more than 2,000 marijuana plants behind a farm on Gray’s Mill Road near the Greene-Lenoir county line.

Most of the plants were 10 feet high or taller.
So far no suspects have been identified.

Authorities said the son of the farm’s owner, who did not want to be identified, was making deer tracks Tuesday evening. When the tractor got stuck, he saw the plants and called his parents.
The owner called 911, and the State Highway Patrol helicopter flew overhead in search of the field.
Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith said the initial search was called off late Tuesday because of darkness, but the search continued Wednesday morning.
A shed was also discovered that was being used to dry the plants.
