more funds sought for wars
the bush administration will ask congress soon for another $120 billion to pay for the wars in iraq and afghanistan, bringing total spending since the sept. 11 attacks to about $440 billion. the war in iraq is costing about $150 million a day, while continued fighting in afghanistan is costing about $27 million a day.

mexican migrants to get us maps
a mexican government agency is to issue some 70,000 maps marking main roads and water tanks for people wanting to cross illegally into the u.s.
the national human rights commission says the maps will be aimed at cutting the death toll among migrants.

muslim outrage spreads
muslim worshippers gather after friday prayers at the abu hanifa mosque in baghdad to burn danish flags. outrage over caricatures of the prophet muhammad erupted in a swell of protests across the muslim world friday, with demonstrators demanding revenge against denmark and death for those they accuse of defaming islam's holiest figure.
in iraq, the leading shiite cleric denounced the drawings first published in a danish newspaper in september, one of which depicted the prophet wearing a turban shaped as a bomb.
but the cleric also suggested militant muslims were partly to blame for distorting the image of islam.
some european newspapers reprinted the caricatures, prompting protests in britain, turkey, lebanon, syria, pakistan, indonesia, malaysia and palestinian areas. in sudan,
some even urged al-qaeda terrorists to target denmark.
